The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Hugo Chávez Frías, is celebrating the tenth anniversary of his weekly televised litany with a special edition, lasting four whole days. Yesterday, President Chávez greeted his god:
"A big applause for Fidel, our father who art in Havana!"
Dear Virgin of Tepeyac: pray for Latin America!

Interesting how the allusion works better in English than in the original Spanish (Heaven/Havana vs. Cielos/Havana).
Well, Fidel is certainly not in Heaven, and the Havana he's created resembles more the other place.

Da Devil...
You've gotta feel sorry for him. Imagine if he had a "St. Paul" moment...
It's not possible a "St. Paul moment" for someone who lives in the sin against the Holy Spirit.
The post-conciliar Latin American church must be proud of itself having aided and abetted his ilk to supreme power: another rotten fruit of Liberation Theology.
I have been to Vnza and can say they truly have good Catholic hearts and respect the faith. If people are now following Chavez liturgies or a Gov't imposed form of Mass it is of sheer fear and intimidation..Many horrible things happen to people who not only oppose him but also those who try to remain neutral. He will suppress and manipulate the Bishops there into doing as HE wishes, but please understand they are NOT the wishes of the people. It just so happens that the Church is the one thing til now he could not control. He is bored and moving on the the next part of his agenda. What Vnza needs is a few strong, protected Bishops and Priests to bring the Tridentine into life there. It is there that they will find the strength they so need. And renewal can begin to seed. The faithful must not be abandoned. All parts of Latin America have if only sporatic Tridentine Masses, they are grwoing. The traditionalism touches them. We can NOT forget our suffering friends in Vnza. PLease Priest, take heed of this poor defenseless group of faithful. They need you more than many who are on their way, they have not even begun and soon the NO identity will be stamped out completely.
That's the danger when military people take hold on the reins of power. Despotic, dictatorial and arrogant.
I believe the health of a nation can be measured by the availability of the TLM. Here in tiny Guatemala, there is but one FSSPX chapel. Fortunately, it is robust and we have daily Mass.
The TLM is not available in any other Central American nation (to the best of my knowledge), nor is it offered anywhere in Venezuela.
I think that we can all agree that Fidel is in a place which begins with the letter H and is headed for a place which begins with the letter H, as everyone is.
