I'm not a big FSSP fan. With the election of a new, more liberal leader, and the publication of Summorum Pontificum, they have agreed to forgo any criticisms of the Novus Ordo Missae.
Yes, I feel so deprived in my FSSP parish that I don't hear regular diatribes from the altar about the evilness of the Novus Ordo or tiresome sermons about Vatican II. How dreadful to hear nothing but sound preaching on the truths of the Faith and the meaning of the day's Epistle, Gospel, and liturgy and how those things can help me get to heaven.
Sure wish I had the SSPX to thunder denunciations of Paul VI and Dignitatis humanae at me from the pulpit.

Clearly, Sue does not know many FSSP priests or seminarians.
What purpose do comments like the above serve? They are unedifying and can be met with equally unedifying comments like the following:
Not a single FSSP priest signed any, or is responsible for any, of the documents of Vatican II. The same cannot be said for the Society of Saint Pius X. Its founder was one of the bishops that gave us that problematic council in the first place.
If the documents contained so many errors, why did Archbishop Lefebvre sign them?
There is no need to criticise the FSSP or the SSPX, those who say the FSSP didn't sign off on Vatican 2 should know they have to sign off on an agreement which accepts it and have to operate under the 1983 code of canon law which is fundamentally flawed. Archbishop Lefebvre signed off on most of V2 like most bishops because the pope insisted on it but when he saw their consequences and with more deliberation it became clear he couldn't accept them. Regardless he lead opposition to the liberal views throughout the council and didn't I believe sign off on all the documents.
The FSSP is more traditional than most eclessia dei groups but many priests do at least attend the NO chrism mass and receive communion at it because the bishop pressurises them.
Regardless I think we should just be happy at more people moving towards becoming good and holy priests.
"Sure wish I had the SSPX to thunder denunciations of Paul VI and Dignitatis humanae at me from the pulpit."
The SSPX give "sound preaching on the truths of the Faith" just like the FSSP but also give their flock courage & comfort when they're scandalized by Assisi and the cowardice shown by our Hierarchy who do nothing about politicians who call themselves "Catholics" and support the killings of babies or defrock a good priest because a lesbian wanted her way in sin. They not only speak the truth but the WHOLE Truth!

He didn't give us that "problematic council" his was one of the original schemas thrown out and like many was duped but when he saw the truth he spoke up to help guide the flock and give them Priests for Daily Mass and schools for their many children, seminaries, monasteries, retreat houses and convents.

And BTW, there wouldn't even BE a single FSSP priest if it hadn't been for Archbishop Levebvfe's speaking out about the "smoke of Satan"'s entrance at Vatican II according to His Holiness Pope Paul VI!!!
OK, friends, can't we just be grateful for this exceptionally important moment for the Church? Every ordination is, for Mother Church, as the birth of a child to his parents, a moment of such great joy that even the preceding troubles and labors are forgotten, as the Lord reminds us. So let us rejoice!
Wsxy the SSPX do not accept the whole of the 1983 code, quite obviously if some of it contradicts divine or natural law it is to be set aside and the previous code followed in such matters. The issue of the new conditions for annulment such as psychological immaturity, a serious lack of the discretion necessary and other such new conditions which are contrary to all previous law and teaching as well the giving of communion to non catholics by catholic ministers and vice versa, ecumenicism and collegiality are examples of this.
I agree with NC though it is best to be non partisan about this, we need good holy priests and the deacons here are surely on the way to become that.
It's unfortunate to see another fine thread of good news for Catholic Tradition hijacked by another traddy circular firing squad.
These are pictures to stir the soul of any Catholic invested in the future of Tradition in the Church. May God grant these young men long and fruitful careers in the vineyards of the Lord. "The harvest indeed is great, but the labourers are few."
The truth is simple: We would not have the FSSP without the SSPX or the efforts of Archbishop Lefebvre, and we would not have much of the return of traditional sacraments in the Church today without the FSSP. Both have played their role. And I would hope that we could all recognize that and refrain from sniping at one or the other when we see good news like this posted.
We trads have enough enemies inside and outside of the Church without bickering with each other about who is more orthodox and traditional the FSSP or the SSPX. When we trads do this the only ones who win are the modernists and liberals, and their father...Satan.

Congratulations, so many Deacons for Catholic Tradition! Just one more step to reach the Holy of Holies.

"Liberal leader"?... Who, Father Berg?... Dear Sue, are you sure you know what you are talking about?
Thank you young deacons! Each one of you will offer thousands of masses throughout your lives.
The FSSP has been essential to the implementation of Summorum Pontificum. Thank you, and please come to each diocese.

Congratulations to the new Deacons ordained by the FSSP.
May the Good Lord guide you in faithfulness in the service of Holy Mother Church.

Way to go C.V., second from the left! He's from our parish!

JMJ Ora: There isn't any other code of Canon Law apart from the 1983 code. Even the SSPX understands that.
