Traditional Latin Mass program

1932 Int. Euch. Congress logo
The 50th International Eucharistic Congress will be held in Dublin, Ireland, next month - and Traditional Catholics will not be left out, as well they should not be, since the International Congresses were first inspired by the Traditional Mass and eucharistic devotions. The Latin Mass Chaplaincy of the Archdiocese of Dublin (located in St Kevin’s Church, Harrington St, Dublin 8) sends us the program of their activities during the Congress, including Masses and conferences:

  3. I'm Afraid I find this kind of legitimisation of modernist events troubling. The tendency of groups like the FSSP to organise participation in what are essentially scandalous examples of communicatio in sacris is notable. World Youth Day also has it's Trad sideshow. The real truth is revealed on the Congress website.

Details of the Programme for Monday 11th June:

The principal liturgy on this first full day of the Congress, will be a “Liturgy of Word and Water” celebrated by Most Rev. Michael Jackson (Church of Ireland Archbishop of Dublin). The homily will be preached by Metropolitan Hilarion Alfeyev of the Russian Orthodox Church. Meanwhile Brother Alois Löser, prior of Taizé will give the Catechesis (or teaching) on the theme of Baptism.

Other significant ecumenical interventions during the week include: Rev. Nicky Gumble, of Alpha International, who will address the theme of reconciliation, and a presentation by Rev Ruth Patterson, Director of Restoration Ministries, on being ‘Companions on the Journey’ of faith. Prof. William Reville will give an address entitled ‘Celebrating the Mystery of Life’.

This will be what the SSPX (if it should ever be regularised) will have to resist becoming involved in. What Bishop Fellay has referred to in the past as "the Zoo mentality".

Gerard Brady: Jesus ate with sinners. Would you have advised him not to? All kudos to the Latin Mass Chaplaincy in Dublin!

I am afraid, you are not particularly right in respect of FSSP. What they are doing is precisely this: regaining nearly lost castle from within. What they are doing during this Eucharistic congress is precisely reclaiming the rights of Tradition and restoring it. We should help with our prayers in this crusade rather than accusing in wrongdoings.

  7. The principal liturgy by Church of Ireland Archbishop of Dublin.

Church of Ireland is the Anglican Church there. Hmmm... at a Roman Catholic event regarding the Blessed Sacrament. he light just went on there.

  8. How can it be right for non-Catholics to have any part in this at all ?

    Especially given this:

  9. This program of events looks fantastic. Well done to the chaplaincy and all who are showing that the light of the Catholic faith in Ireland has not gone out just yet. Lets us not knock what is going on at the Congress but pray that it will be a success in fighting back the forces of evil who are trying to destroy Holy Mother Church in the Land of Saints and Scholars! St Patrick pray for us!

  10. For the record: the homily by Metropolitan Hilarion Alfeyev did not push through as he was in Cyprus with his Patriarch.
