Will do! Prayers from Ireland assured. God bless.
Thank you for asking us to pray, Adfero--we feel very close to New Catholic and to his mother because of these special prayers. May Our Lord be with them and surround them with His strength.
Keeping her in my prayers...
Of course. I will pray for his intentions.
My prayers and good wishes for your mom. God bless.Matt
I am reader who comes from a fairly progressive strain of Catholicism but I have a healthy respect for y'all's attachments. I appreciate reading and keeping up with your perspectives. Please let New Catholic know that I am offering my prayers as well, and I'll ask the Blessed Mother to comfort them.
Sean Quinlan said, "This makes an excellent point to the other trads who are against the SSPX. What is it about the SSPX that Rome detests so much? Could it perhaps be because they are too close to the truth and they keep bringing the truth to the forefront. Rome/Local bishops want to be able to dictate what you hear, when you hear it and how often." I think it's very much the case. The present Rome and her bishops have a passionate hatred for the SSPX because the SSPX does speak the Truth. Whenever the SSPX teaches something, it can be found in the writings of the Saints and Fathers of the Church going all the back to Christ Himself. There were, of course, various developments along the way. This can't be denied nor can it be denied the Truth was ever tossed aside and for reasons of a social agenda. Those who did do that were put out to pasture. This shows all of us Rome is infected with liberalism and anything the SSPX does shines the light God on them and we all know, "It burns! It burns!" Matt
Praying for your Mother, New Catholic.
“Whenever the SSPX teaches something, it can be found in the writings of the Saints and Fathers of the Church going all the back to Christ Himself. There were, of course, various developments along the way. This can't be denied nor can it be denied the Truth was ever tossed aside and for reasons of a social agenda.”Yes. When you speak about “various developments along the way”, what in fact you are referring to is the process of the “development” of the fallible human mind’s understanding of God and His creation. These developments, which are readily observable in the documents of the Councils of Trent and Vatican I, are positive in nature, in that they use the human ability to reason to advance our understanding of God and His creation, on the bases that God created man in His image. What transpired at VII however, is radically different then whatever came before it. VII was a “normative” council. Various participants came to that Council not to “advance” the fallible human mind’s understanding of God (that is why VII is said not to have been a doctrinal council) but rather to “advance” an agenda on the basis of their own fallible mind’s perception of how things ought to be. These radical elements, and they were truly radical in nature, knew that they could not use a “positive process” to attain their desired ends, since there was no basis in logic and reasoning, or the Universal Magisterium for that matter, for what they were attempting to do, so they had to it by stealth. “Pastoral” in nature is that way VII is characterized their undertaking. And the way in which the radical elements obtained their end goals is to corrupt the documents of VII by putting two conflicting meaning side by side in the same document, according to Cardinal Kasper. This resulted in chaos, and it is this chaos that is the source of the demolition the Church for the past 50 years.
