Traditional Retreat for Men

After the U.S. seminary of the Priestly Fraternity of Saint Peter completes the spring semester and ordinations, its spiritual director, the Reverend Father James Buckley, FSSP, drives around the country to conduct retreats and missions.

Father Buckley's retreats are based on the Spiritual Exercises of Saint Ignatius of Loyola.  A July 2013 retreat in Maryland for women is already full, but there are three slots (of 20) available for his June 2013 men's (silent) retreat in Virginia.  Daily traditional Latin Mass is offered (Missa Cantata on Sunday) and confession and spiritual direction are available for exercitants.  The men's retreat will consist of the First Week of the Exercises.

The retreat will be conducted at the Diocese of Arlington's retreat house in White Post, Virginia (a former Franciscan novitiate).  It will be the fourth annual men's retreat by Father Buckley in this region, organized in advance by Miss Aimee Nichols.  (N.B.  I have attended all of them and highly recommend it if you are able.)  Men travel from all across the Mid-Atlantic to make this retreat, often representing a diverse age range of single and married Catholics.

Father Buckley will provide a copy of the Exercises for each exercitant and sets a daily schedule of instruction, meditation, direction and sacraments.  The first dinner and final lunch are not silent, offering an opportunity to socialize with fellow traditional Catholics.  The retreat center, with a newly constructed trail of outdoor Stations of the Cross, is located in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley.  Please see the above flyer for dates and details.
