Rorate Caeli

Despite obstacles, Summorum Pontificum advances: Sunday TLM starts

Starting the second Sunday in August, Nashville will have the Traditional Latin Mass celebrated every week in the same church by a priest incardinated in the diocese for the first time (it seems) since the early 1970s. There was no Mass at all available in diocesan churches under Ecclesia Dei, and, since 2007 the Usus Antiquior has only been celebrated in two churches, an hour away from each other: once per month in one and twice per month in the other, always in the afternoon.

Beginning August 9, however, the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass according to the 1962 Missale Romanum will be celebrated at 8:30 a.m. every Sunday at the Church of the Assumption, 1227 7th Ave. North, Nashville, 37208. Announcements are not up yet on the parish or diocesan websites, but the assignment list listing the priest who will be saying the Mass at Assumption has been made public.
