Rorate Caeli

Lætetur mons Sion, et exsultent filiæ Iudæ

A very happy bunch in black and white

"On 28 May 2011 Father Couture, the District Superior, came to visit our Convent. He had been delegated by Bishop Fellay to receive the vows of Mother Mary Micaela as she transferred from the Congregation of the Dominican Sisters of New Zealand to the Dominican Sisters of Wanganui. [A congregation "friendly" with the Priestly Fraternity of Saint Pius X - FSSPX / SSPX.]

"She had special permission from the Congregation for Religious and Secular Institutes in Rome to do this. As far as we know this is a world first, that a Sister would be allowed to transfer from a Novus Ordo congregation to a congregation set up by Bishop Fellay. The whole procedure implies a recognition of our Congregation, and of the religious of Tradition, by Rome."

[Source and text: "Dominican Sisters of Wanganui", New Zealand - we really do not know any details except those mentioned by this specific congregation, so we do not know exactly what happened or how it happened; tip: reader "Long-Skirts".]

Way to go!! What else can I say?

Longskirts - the bearer of good news!

  2. Anonymous3:04 PM

Correct me if I am wrong but aren't these Dominican nuns of the second order rather than Dominican sisters of the third order?

  3. Gratias4:10 PM

Thanks to Long-Skirts for this and especially for all those wonderful poems she gives us.

    Gratias, Gratias!!

  5. Wow!

The Vatican acknowledging a canonical mission for these SSPX sisters!

  6. Anonymous8:14 PM

I am speechless :) See, all those big worries that come from time to time... But our Lord and Saviour is so merciful and good! Rome does, w/o hesitation, accept the work the FSSPX does, as had it always been a part of the church.. Deo gratias!

On a side note: can someone explain to me what the remarks about Long Skirts mean? Thanks!

    O. K., longskirts, I dare you to come up with poesy to answer.

    I love the Church
    With all my heart
    Have watched the wolves
    Tear her apart

    Have watched the wolves
    Confuse and lie
    Attack the sheep
    Leave them to die

    But who am I?
    A simple poet
    Missouri bred
    So I must show it

    And show it how?
    Sometimes not pretty
    When I crank out
    An angry ditty

    Missouri bred
    A stubborn mule
    All heresy
    I'll not help fuel

    Like when deny
    His Presence real
    Won't genuflect
    Or even kneel

    But then the Holy Ghost
    Says "Show 'em"
    Inspires me
    To write a poem

    So that is when
    And why at Mass...
    God gives me poems
    To kick their *ss!

Brava, Long-Skirts. Poet extraordinaria. Thank you.

The SSPX bought a great monastery from Carmelites in France (in the Alpes).

Rome gave the approval for the contract, I´v heard.

    Thing become normal, I guess.

  11. You're one 'mean mama', LS. :-)

    I liked that one.

    God bless!

    The way I see it:

There would be no 9/14 appointment without there being an agreement to sign. So, 9/14 is a date of signing the agreement, a ceremonial occasion. SSPX will be juridically given an official status and mission. This is what I think.

Why would they be called to be told you are not wanted?

In my opinion some commenters are forgetting that Our Lord is in charge of these proceedings as He is, indeed, in charge of all proceedings. As Long-Skirts has rightly pointed out, He may have already revealed His hand.

As I think of Him observing what is happening in the world in general, and in His Church in particular, He may have already decided to intervene. He may have listened to His Blessed Mother telling Him that He must accomplish what others have failed to do, namely, unify His ministers against the onslaught of Satan.

I have in mind the scene from Shakespeare's As You Like It: "All the world's a stage, And all the men and women merely players." (Jaques in Act II Scene vii.) Yes, all are players, even Pope Benedict XVI and Bishop Fellay, but there is One who is Master of them all.

    Dio Gratias!

We need to pray for the sisters.

    And for our Holy Father.

The sisters' blog has been disappeared.

  15. Anonymous5:31 PM

Why would all of the links to the Sister's blog suddenly disappear? Could it be that the wolves in the curia are red-faced and furious that such a momentous development has been made public? I will not name names here but I am convinced that it is the work of the "wolves". May Our Lord protect His Holiness from the wolves and may His Holy Will be done in spite of them.
