Habsburg traditional Latin wedding
On the feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, there was a royal wedding in Washington, D.C.
Miss Kathleen Walker wed Archduke Imre of Austria (Imre Emmanuel Erzherzog von Habsburg-Lorraine, great-grandson of Blessed Karl), with priests using the traditional Latin order of marriage followed by a traditional Latin Solemn High Nuptial Mass in the presence of a bishop.
The Reverend Monsignor Charles E. Pope of the Archdiocese of Washington was the celebrant; the Reverend Father Gregory S. Thompson of the Diocese of Arlington served as deacon; and the Reverend Father Edwin E. Perez of the Diocese of Arlington served as subdeacon. The wedding was at Saint Mary, Mother of God, Catholic Church in Washington, D.C. The parish schola of men sung Gregorian chant propers and a guest choir and chamber orchestra sung/played Franz Schubert's Mass Number Two in G Major. Men from the parish served in the sanctuary, joined by guest clergy.
His Excellency Paul S. Loverde, bishop of Arlington, sat in choro and made remarks from the pulpit after the Last Gospel. This was quite possibly Bishop Loverde's first time hearing a public traditional Latin Mass since the 1960s.
