Yesterday,
the leader of an Italian political party, at a packed rally in Piazza Duomo,
Milan, invoked the intercession of Our Blessed Lady and the Holy Patrons of
Europe “for the peace and prosperity of our peoples”: words that immediately
stirred the hearts of Catholics who love Jesus and His Church "usque ad effusionem sanguinis".
The
ordinary everyday Catholic accustomed to carrying the double weight of a daily work routine and voluntary service
for the “things of our Mother Church”, appreciates those who publically declare their trust in the help of God and the intercession of Our Lady and the Saints.
"Nisi Dominus aedificaverit domum, in vanum laboraverunt qui aedificant eam" ("Unless
the Lord has built the house, those building it have worked in vain.")
The
same leader also said that he is ready to give his life for Italy. The Prophet
Jeremiah exhorts us to trust always in the Lord: “Cursed
be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart
departeth from the Lord.[...] Blessed be the man that trusteth in the Lord, and the Lord
shall be his confidence." This is why in the words uttered yesterday at Piazza Duomo, Milan, we experienced the same emotional involvement of the times, when, for instance,
a family member or a community were on the verge of endorsing an important
enterprise.
Minister Salvini’s intervention
yesterday was for many a source of embarrassment, for others skepticism and for
others a source of mockery. For many
true believers, [however] thirsty for authentic Catholicism, authentic Hope, it
is instead, fresh-cool water in the barren desert-land of today…(Cfr.M.Dionisotti su Facebook).
Immaculate Heart of Mary pray for us who trust
in You!
“Milan, Salvini invokes the Patrons of Europe and kisses his Rosary:
The Immaculate Heart of Mary will bring us the victory”
"We trust in men and women
of good will. We commend ourselves to the six Patrons of Europe: St.
Benedict of Norcia, St Brigit of Sweden, St. Catherine of Siena, Saints Cyril and
Methodius and St. Teresa Benedetta of the Cross.
We entrust ourselves to them.We entrust our
destiny, our future and the peace and prosperity of our peoples to them."
Then brandishing a Rosary,
Salvini added:
“Personally I entrust, Italy,
my life and your lives to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Whom, I’m sure will
bring us to victory, since Italy, this piazza, this Europe represent mothers, fathers, men and women,
who, with good humor, courage and determination want peaceful coexistence, are
respectful but are also asking for respect.”
