Increasing numbers of sources have mentioned that on March 23, the same day of the pre-consistory meeting for prayer and discussion, scheduled by the Pope himself, the Holy Father will also meet bishop Bernard Fellay. Is it true?
At the present time, we cannot confirm this rumor, which has been floating around for many weeks, but it is true that it has been published by the French Traditionalist newsletter Aletheia (PDF file) -- which, in its turn, is probably based on the editorial introduction to the interview of Bishop Richard Williamson published by Minute (PDF file). An American website is reporting this, despite what it proclaims, based on this story published by the French Sedevacantist website Virgo Maria (PDF file)-- which, regardless of its theological position, is a principled site because it always mentions the sources of its stories (this time, Aletheia). So all online rumors originate from one source. This does not mean it is not true, but we would just like to make it clear that it is a rumor (especially regarding the date, which seems implausible).
