A priestly tipster let us know that a Pontifical Mass will be celebrated on October 15 at 5pm on the Feast of St. Theresa of Avila at the Monastery of Jesus, Mary, and Joseph -- a fully traditional Carmel in Elysburg, Pa. The Mass will be celebrated by their new bishop, His Excellency Ronald Gainer, of the Diocese of Harrisburg.
In addition to bringing awareness to this Mass, the sisters need our help.
The Sisters have identified land in the Gettysburg, PA area for which they (through their advisors) are in the process of doing due diligence to determine if they can build a new Monastery. The drawing below was an early rendering of one proposal but the actual architectural plans have changed and a new rendering should be available soon.
To keep informed of their progress you can check out the site of the Friends of Carmel JMJ (an organization set up to help support the sisters). Once the Sisters are ready to proceed the Friends group will post the latest news and happenings there. You can also make donations there to help support the Sisters and sign up to receive via email any new posts as they are posted.
