From reader N.A. in Sweden, in a letter sent to friends and acquaintances of John Bogärde, a pioneer of the revival of the Traditional Latin Mass in Sweden and a father of seven, who recently passed away at 44:
I would also like to share with you these photos from John's funeral. It was such an astonishing and moving experience. The Requiem Mass was celebrated in the Church of Husaby; once upon a time, the first Cathedral in Sweden and the place where our first Christian King Olof Skötkonung was baptised, in a nearby well, in the year of 1000 AD. Sadly, the church turned Lutheran after the Reformation (like all churches in Sweden), but it is a great wonder that for the first time in more than 500 years, these stone walls got to witness a true Catholic Requiem High Mass again. It was very solemnly celebrated, and with three of his young boys acting as altar servers.
So in the midst of this tragedy of having lost a good friend in Christ, we all cherish the thought that this also brought Catholic tradition back to the Christian wastelands of Sweden. And we fully trust that your prayers helped us to get access to this historical church, complete with a well-preserved rood screen from the Medieval Age, as you can see.
