Rorate Caeli

Let us pray

For the victims of natural disasters, including the hundreds of victims of the floods in the state of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil (in the mountainous areas between Campos and Rio).

And also for the dozens of victims of the floods in Queensland.

The most affected area, around my hometown, belongs to the Diocese of Petrópolis. They have a (Brazilian) bank account for donations at: Bradesco Bank, agency 401-4, account 114134-1. You can see some pictures at http://www.diocesepetropolis.org.br/index.php?pg=noticiasdet&id=1272 . Notice the water level in the church that is under construction. There are at least 529 confirmed deaths. The city of Areal, where I used to live, has been almost entirely destroyed, but nobody died because they heard about the flood coming and evacuated.

I also ask your prayers for the neighboring state of Minas Gerais, where I live now. Here 70 cities are officially in emergency state because of the floods, too.

    May Our Lord have mercy!

    Dear Professor

Rest assured of many Rosaries for your stated intentions.

To the rest of the readership, given floods in Australia of apocalyptic proportions, and the terrible things in Brazil, and of course the Tsunami in 2004, I wonder if we are witnessing the beginnings of the phase that Our Lord told us of in Luke 21:25 "...and upon the earth distress of nations, by reason of the confusion of the roaring of the sea and of the waves". I remember reading that Pope John Paul II had divulged in 1984 that one of the elements of the 3rd secret of Our Lady of Fatima is that entire continents would be flooded and submerged as part of the Great Chastisement.

If so, may I recommend the Holy Rosary who all who want to pray fervently and effectively for relief for our brethren in these regions.

I also know some who frown upon it, but even as prayerful assistance during Mass (the EF, I mean), the HOly Rosary is such an excellent means of meditating on the Sacrifice during Mass itself.

Just pile on those Rosaries. I believe Our Lady will help and give victory to our afflicted brethren.

    Sincerely,

    Neophyte.
