It's perhaps not too much to say that this one action could be the reason God created Josef Ratzinger. He has to get it right, for his soul's sake and the sake of the entire world.
Yes, the Church acts slowly for the ages. But we live in days and years. A long time ago, we had to choose to live in the days God has given us--and not wait for the Church to straighten things out. Otherwise, our children would likely not be practicing Catholics today.
I add the following: the publication of pontifical nominations is usual even during the Lenten retreat, since they are usually signed several days prior to being made public.
And, naturally, the work of the Holy See goes on as usual, with the exception of the Pope and of his direct collaborators.
With respect, the Vatican can act with amazing speed when it perceives that the situation requires it: Archbishop Lefebvre sanctae memoriae performed his ordinations at Econe on June 30th 1988, the Vatican published Ecclesia Dei two days later on 2nd July. There is a lesson here.
Rome, Feb. 26, 2007 (CWNews.com) - Father Gianfranco Ravasi, a noted Biblical scholar from Milan, has been chosen by Pope Benedict XVI (bio - news) to write the meditations for this year’s Way of the Cross on Good Friday in the Roman Coliseum.

"Imminent" turns into "sometime but no one knows when." Thought so.
The Vatican is slower than the dickens. It's a wonder anything ever gets done.
Oh wait, nothing does get done!
Well shucks, and here I was truly expecting the motu proprio to be released this week! Fiddlesticks.
Thankfully, because all of you readers surely understood my sarcasm here, I need not fear the perception of malice in my "jocose lie."

Very true Dust I Am. Each alone is responsible to God and we have to act accordingly, nothwithstanding what other may say.
I fear it will be a list of recomendations that will end up lost in committees, discussion groups, implemention task forces and so on.
I hope it will be direct and unquivocal order.
Still waiting for the implementation of pro mulitis...

Any thoughts NC?
He is close to Cardinal Martini (they even wrote a small book together, on the memories of Carlo Maria Martini), and they have much in common.
Not a good sign.
