Florida Alert

The parish priest of Saint Anthony's, in San Antonio, Florida (Tampa Bay Area), is under fire from the anti-Catholic liberals in his parish who cannot get over the fact that he is a priest obedient to the motu proprio Summorum Pontificum. Among the myriad of Masses in the "Ordinary Form" that he celebrates every week, Father Palka offers a public Sunday Traditional Mass, and a private one on Mondays.

That is it - but that and a few moments of dignity introduced in the activity of the Parish have been enough to induce a group of rabid dissidents to get a hearing with the Bishop of Saint Petersburg today.

We and our thousands of readers (including those oltre Tevere) are aware of what is happening, and we will not keep silent.

Does any body know anything about the Bishop, is he a friend to tradition? I will pray for the priest and parish right now!!!

I was familiar with this church when I lived in the area 10 years ago. It is a very small (but probably growing just because of its proximity to Tampa) town that is near St. Leo Abbey and College - a Benedictine establishment. The abbey is small, aging, liberal.

Anonymous #1 - Bishop Lynch, he who banned perpetual Eucharistic Adoration in his diocese and settled a sexual harrassment suit his (male) communications director filed against him AND essentially supported Michael Schiavo vs. Terry's family...

...yeah, we should probably pray.

The bishop, Robert Lynch, is the same Bishop Robert Lynch, who...you guessed it!...was accused by the Schiavo family of not speaking out sufficiency for Terry. He is also the same Bishop Robert Lynch who suppressed perpetual adoration in his diocese.

Not looking good...pray.

Anyone who supports Father Edwin Palka can send comments to St. Anothony's at:

The bishop is no friend to Tradition at all.

But if a group of laymen asked for a personal meeting with the bishop on how to implement Summorum Pontificum in their parish they'd never get in the door!

When I was on vacation a week and a half ago I attended his Mass and was very impressed by his command of Latin and the rubrics. The congregation was impressive in size and age (several families). And it was wonderful to see about ten children receive First Communion. A lovely parish.

By all means, let's pray for this parish and its pastor, but let's also pray for the bishop—surely the Father Palka is, as well.

When will Bishops understand they destroyed blind obedience years ago themselves with deceit, lies, and supppression of many truths. Nowadays respect and trust is a two way street. An unexpected consequence of Vatican II and the times. What he is doing here will only be seen by the faithful, even the ones who prefer the NO Mass, to be mean spirited, and cruel. The MP has exposed this attitude right out into the open. Bishops like this who disturb the faithful should get nothing from their parishoners. Nothing at all. Pray for the clarification letter on the MP soon, that will limit and stop such obstruction from unworthy of their title, (as it implores supporting the Holy Father), Bishops once and for all.

Thank you for reminding me why I did not become a seminarian for my home diocese in Florida.
