For the Sacred Heart

1) Today, June 11, 2010, at 7:00 P.M, Msgr. Francois Gayot, Archbishop Emeritus of Cap-Haitien, Haiti, will offer a Solemn Pontifical Mass at the Church of Saint Jean Baptiste in Manhattan (on Lexington Avenue at 76th Street) The Pontifical Mass is the second Pontifical Mass for the Feast of the Sacred Heart to be organized by the Confraternity of the Sacred Heart, which is also behind the Conference on Devotion to the Sacred Heart to be held tomorrow, June 12, 2010, in the undercroft of the Church of Our Saviour in Manhattan.

2) Since today is the Feast of the Sacred Heart, please do not forget to recite the Actus Reparationis. Hopefully, its public recitation, as commanded by Pope Pius XI in 1928 (see No. 20 of Miserentissimus Redemptor), will not be neglected, especially by those congregations attending the Traditional Latin Mass on this day.

3) One devotion that has been greatly neglected since the end of Vatican II is the Night Devotion to the Sacred Heart, which had been promoted with singular zeal by Fr. Mateo Crawley-Boevey SS.CC. Night adoration consists of family members giving up one hour a month in between the hours of 9pm and 6am, to make a Holy Hour of Reparation within the home. A website has been established to make this devotion known once again to millions of Catholics: Sacred Heart Nightly Devotion
