Molto bello!

The exhibit of contemporary art "The splendor of truth, the beauty of charity", prepared by Cardinal Ravasi, President of the Pontifical Council for Culture, in honor of the 60th anniversary of priestly ordination of Pope Benedict XVI, which we had mentioned here before, opened today in the Paul VI Hall.

This particular work of art should be called "The Spirit of Vatican II"...

I will be charitable therefore and make no comment. However, the truth is splendid.

A ghost? I would love to know what the Holy Father's thoughts were viewing that ghost and all the other "beauties" ....."una presa in giro" this exhibition, in my opinion, if anyone is interested...

This is call art?

I say this is disturbing!

These guys need to be exorcised.

That is as charitable as I can get.

It is abstruse that the Apostolic See and the postconciliar church worldwide seeks the nearness of this "artists". But anyway in this montinian monstrosity of the "Aula di Paolo VI" this mumbo jumbo is the most suitable place.

Is this made from the same sculptor who made the multi-functional sculpture/rain shelter/urinal in Rome?

Please pray for the repose of the soul of Otto von Habsbourg-Lothringen who just passed away.
He was de jure Emperor of Austria and son of Blessed Charles of Austria.

Including Ravasi!

I as that this blog consider posting a request for prayers for the repose of the soul of Archduke Otto von Hapsburg who died today.

Decadent!

Just an observation -- Otto von Habsburg had already passed on the Archducal title (which I suppose would include the claim to the Imperial throne) to his son Charles a few years ago.

The figure is inchoate, featureless, indistinct, unfocused, obscure, approximate. What a wonderful way to commemorate the sublime ambiguity of the Council documents.

His Majesty has been the last living clip to old Europe, before it was usurped by wicked revolutions and the henceforth until these days penetrantly ongoing egalitarian machinations. May His Majesty rest in eternal peace and may the Holy Madonna intercede for his soul.

Junk art just plain ugly.

Please, note that this is the "gift" of Mr. Oliviero Rainaldi, author of the uglyyyyyy statue of Jean Paul II at Termini rail station in Rome.

The Pontificial Council for Cultural Goods of the Church first expressed its concern for the ugliness of the statue maintaining a firm appreciation for "the attempt to overcome the standardized models of classic art", and then offered to the author the opportunity to show its unbelievable creations to the Holy Father.

Yes, and showing symptoms of incipient deliquescence, too.

Hope Springs Eternal:

Well, yes, it is frightening. But it also looks like John Paul II trying to escape from a huge marshmallow.

It's the spirit of Vatican II½ trying to escape the ambiguities of a conciliar document.

Who pays for this sort of trash? I am sure the author is charging millions of euros for this piece of junk. I wouldn't even pay a penny for the whole thing.
