Rorate Caeli

Eli, eli...

Dear friends,

I received today devastating news about the future health prospects of my mother MJ. Naturally, my work here will be sparse, and I probably will not post much more in the upcoming weeks other than the spiritual posts sent by our dear Contributor Francesca Romana.

Thank you all for your prayers for her. Please, keep her in your prayers, if possible.

NC

P.S. Apologizing for the more personal nature of this post. And reminding you to keep reading as our other contributors will continue to post.

Dear NC, I see by your profile that you're a convert. Oh, what a good mother she must be to have given to us such a dear, son. I'm sure, like my mother, she wore her feet out for you too and I know Our Lord will look on her with great kindess...

MY
MOTHER’S
FEET

Withered, wearied
Ripped and torn
My mother’s feet
Were rough and worn.

For they had carried
Future’s weight
Engraved by God
Her pregnant plate.

No money for
The perfect fit –
So when in pain
She’d pray and sit

Until her purpled
Blood would race
Body, soul
Varicosed in grace.

And though so wearied
Withered, torn
Emeralds fade…
‘Fore feet so worn.

Your mom is in our prayers! Can I just say thank you for posting so many interesting and incredibly informative articles? I used to rely on The Remnant for my info, but RC has become my go-to source. And I, for one, am very thankful to you for reporting about Pope Francis, when other traditional Catholic news sources are not. Keep up the awesome reporting and I am a reader for life. Great articles; thanks for enlightening me.

So sorry to hear this sad news, New Catholic.

Thank you for your brave and honest reporting and commentary in the last few eventful weeks.

You are unfailingly fair-minded, orthodox, and charitable, and your blog represents the very best expression of Catholic thought and sentiment.

Thank you so very much for your fine leadership and example and may the good Lord and His Mother guide and sustain you.

Dear NC
I do not know you but I am a daily visitor to this site. When I read your note this morning, I had to write and offer my solidarity in what you have begun to go through. My mother died a week ago. That was after weeks of a difficult last illness. It is so hard to lose a mother, as a priest friend shared with me, "the bearer of life". You are in my prayers.

Christine, to be precise, per the CISP announcement, Cardinal Comastri (archpriest of the Basilica) approved on March 14.

(For those who have difficuly recognizing a simple observation: No, I am not reading anything nefarious or conspiratorial into that in regard to the Holy Father.)

NC, my prayers for your mother and you. I am glad you ask for our prayers. We all need them desperately. May our Lord and Lady bless you all!

Yes, but he could not do it without the approval of the Holy Father.

Uncle Claibourne said...

Sure he could. :) It all depends on the understanding he and his boss have about what decisions he can make on his own, and which ones the boss has reserved to himself. In this particular case, I could see it going either way. It's possible (not saying likely) that the Holy Father isn't even aware of it.
