Beautiful New Book Teaches Kids Gregorian Chant with Active Keyboard and Color-coded Music

Do you want your child to sing but don’t know where to start? Does your child enjoy music and need some inspiration to sing? Whether your child has been singing for years, or not at all, Children’s First Chants will help them grow in their love for sacred music!

Children’s First Chants is a practical, self-teaching book that enables children (7+) to learn a simple repertoire of Gregorian chants for Holy Mass and various well-known prayers. It contains a fully functional battery-operated piano keyboard that is integrated into the book, with simple instructions on how to read and play a selection of 12 Gregorian melodies on color-coded piano keys that match each Gregorian note.

Printed on 400 gsm thick paper board, it is suitable for young children. All translations of the Latin texts are provided in an appendix. Distributed by St. Augustine Academy Press.

St Augustine said that ‘he who sings well, prays twice’ – is there a better way to help children to pray than by teaching them to sing the Liturgy, to sing their prayers, to sing 'Hosanna to the Son of David’?

Chants your child will learn:

For Mass:
Amen, Et Cum Spiritu Tuo, Preface Dialogue, Kyrie, Sanctus, Agnus Dei

Devotional Use:
Grace Before Meals, Christus Vincit, Gloria Patri, Pater Noster, Sub Tuum, Veni Creator Spiritus

Praise for Children’s First Chants:

"Children have an uncanny ability for singing and memorising songs, which we ought to cultivate from an early age. With appealing pictures and a clever color-coded style of notation, this book introduces the youngest singers to our treasury of Gregorian chant and prepares them for lifetime of singing in the Church."  --Peter Kwasniewski, Ph.D

"The book Children’s First Chants is a highly timely and useful practical tool to promote Sacred Music among children. By God’s grace, may children’s voices singing Gregorian chant be heard ever more in all Catholic churches."  --Bishop Athanasius Schneider
