I suppose this is a good thing, but I hope the Pope wasn't pressured into making this trip by Israel/Jewish concerns.

If I'm not mistaken, around the time in October Benedict XVI was honoring the 50th anniversary of the death of the great Pope Pius XII who truely was and is a Saint, certain Jewish groups were slandering Pius XII, and pushing for Pope Benedict to visit Israel not to visit the Catholics there, but to dialog etc. with Jews and hear their griefs and concerns.

I am not happy about this. Some Moslems might find him a tempting target. Why enter the lion's den?

It's good to be concerned for the Holy Father's safety . . . but many were troubled by St. Paul's insistence on visiting Jerusalem, where his enemies were waiting for him -- and through that God brought St. Paul before Caesar himself.
