I haven't watched the Papal Mass for Christmas Eve since 2006, but I managed to rise early enough to watch this year's Mass (5 AM Manila time).
Nothing exciting, but the Pope's mouth was visibly moving, saying something softly, all throughout the incensation of the altar during the "Preparation of the Gifts". Was he, perhaps, saying the old incesation prayers?
I have watched the Papal Mass and yes I have noticed too that some faithful who were presenting their hands forward had to finally receive the holy communion on the tongue from certain priests. But I saw too a lot of faithful who received the communion in the hand...

Father Zuhlsdorf is also saying the the Faithful were denied communion in the hand.

yes at least one priest was only giving the holy communion on the tongue, even for people who wanting to receive in the hand:
