Rorate Caeli

The most extraordinary event in English history

The Mother of God and her Divine Son appear to Saint Simon Stock in Cambridge - 762 years ago today: has there been any other moment in English history whose consequences have aided so many souls throughout the world achieve and keep holiness, reaching final perseverance? Men and women, made of flesh, need material reminders of the presence of God in their lives - and what could be more profitable than the blessed physical sign that Our Lady's Mantle covers us at all times, that Her Divine Son keeps watch over us day and night?
Armatura fortis
pugnantium furunt
bella tende
praesidium scapularis.
Saint Elias, pray for us! Saint Simon Stock, pray for us!
Queen of Mount Carmel, pray for us!
Et fidelium animae per misericordiam Dei requiescant in pace. Amen.

I have a first class relic of St Simon Stock. It was a gift from a Carmelite Monastery I was fortunate to be associated with. Doing chores like painting, cutting the grass and I even had the honor of transporting several of the Sisters to the Doctor. Once you're part of the Carmelite Family you have got it made!

Deo Gratias!!!

Such a wonderful gift and one so easy to maintain. These are the devotions and such of a truly Traditional nature we have once again to make sure everyone knows about them.

We ask this great Saint Simon to pray for the coming Heir to the Throne (who will be the Prince or Princess of Cambridge).

St. Teresa of the Child Jesus said, "The Rosary and the Brown Scapular make for a good marriage". She was referring to the marriage of her Father and Mother. When her parents remains were exhumed their Brown Scapulars were found in perfect condition while all else decayed. From this, my wife and I began our marriage by placing great importance on the Rosary and the Brown Scapular. Our marriage is in its 22nd year and I must say it has been a happy one. I attribute this to both Our Lady's Rosary and her Scapular.

"One day through the Rosary and the Scapular I will save the world." I often pondered - I can understand how praying can save the world, but how can wearing a scapular "save the world"?

Finally the understanding came:
To gain the promises of the scapular, one must live chastely. In this filthy day and age, to live chastely is not a small feat. It fact, it is quite a huge grace. So it is easy to see that through praying and living chastely, each of us and the world can be saved!

Wear the scapular, but also live the meaning of it: chastity in whatever state in life you find yourself.

I don't know too much about this saint. Didn't he sit high up on a post for a bunch of years?

Teh Apparition of the Blessed Mother to St Simon Stock took place at Aylesford in Kent. The Carmelite Priory was destroyed at the Reformation. In the 20th century the Carmelite Friars were able to buy the property and rebuild the Priory which exists today as a place of Pilgrimage. The great Carmelite Fr Killian Lynch O.Carm was instrumental in begging monies for this. May he and St Simon Stock intercede for us all !

Moritimer Z is confusing St Simon Stylites, a Syrian,

(there were actually two of them; an elder and a younger) with St Simon Stock, an Englishman.

wonderful new webb page ! As a a third order discalced carmelite member like it.

Amazing how many of the younger generation know nothing of this wonderful scapular.. even had one of the old (not in age) pastors.. he only inquired about it because one of the parishoners wanted to be enrolled. Ended up translating the prayers etc. from Latin etc. for him..
