Rorate Caeli

Rorate Mass at the FSSP European Seminary

Wigratzbad, Bavaria, Saturday, December 12, 2014

Last Saturday, early in the morning, the Seminarians chanted in darkness the Mass of Our Lady in Advent. The "Rorate" Mass, named after the first word of the Introit, can be said in the houses of the Fraternity of Saint Peter as a votive Mass of the third class. The indult [for it] was granted to us by the Pontifical Commission Ecclesia Dei, consulted on the matter at the request of our most recent General Chapter.

This German custom adequately expresses all the spirituality of this liturgical season: in the night of sin, the virtue of hope shines as a small flame, and each one prays so that the light of the Savior, the Lord of Glory, may come. "That was the true Light, which enlighteneth every man that cometh into this world." (Jn 1,9).
