Would You Buy a Bridge from this Bishop?

The Internet is abuzz with news of agreements, proposal, etc. We do not really know what the Holy Father is going to offer the SSPX, but, after all, what is the Society asking for?

Let us hear from the man himself, Bishop Fellay:

"Pillars First, Then a Bridge

(...) I had indicated to Rome that the only way to reach an agreement would be to go through certain steps. Why so? Because you do not construct the span of a bridge before building the piers. If you try to throw the bridge at the start, then everything collapses. So I told him, that if we have spoken of two preambulas, two things to be done first, it is because we want these pillars to be built before the bridge. Cardinal Castrillon Hoyos wants to build a bridge, to have an agreement. We say, fine, okay, great, but let's start at the start. So I repeat to him that the first thing is to allow the Latin Mass for everybody, and the second, to lift - not the excommunication because we don't recognize the excommunication - the decree of excommunication." (From "The Conference: What Catholics Need to Know" )

So, there it is. Before anything else, the Society is asking the Holy Father to:

a) Free the Latin Mass for everybody;

b) Lift the decree of excommunication.
