Benedict XVI to the Catholics of Asia: remember that Jesus Christ is the one Savior of the world

Asia, home to two-thirds of the world’s people, the cradle of great religions and spiritual traditions, and the birthplace of diverse cultures, is currently undergoing unprecedented processes of economic growth and social transformation. Asia's Catholics are called to be a sign and promise of that unity and communion -- communion with God and among men -- which the whole human family is meant to enjoy and which Christ alone makes possible. As part of the mosaic of the continent's different peoples, cultures and religions, they have been entrusted with a great mission: that of bearing witness to Jesus Christ, the universal Savior of mankind. This is the supreme service and the greatest gift that the Church can offer to the people of Asia, and it is my hope that the present Conference will provide renewed encouragement and direction in taking up this sacred mandate.

***

I invoke upon all taking part in the Congress a fresh outpouring of the Holy Spirit and I willingly join in the prayer which will accompany these days of study and discernment. May the Church in Asia bear ever more fervent witness to the incomparable beauty of being a Christian, and proclaim Jesus Christ as the one Savior of the world. Commending those present to the loving intercession of Mary, Mother of the Church, I cordially impart my Apostolic Blessing as a pledge of joy and peace in the Lord.

  1. I find it fascinating: NO Comments here yet.

When Benedict says something showing he is clearly not a modernist, silence.

    Food for thought.

The Pope might remind the Council for INterreligious Dialog and that pernicious heretic, Cardinal Tauran, of this fact.

Every year this group of aged losers sends out greetings to Muslims, Buddhists, and Hindus for Ramadan, and pagan Buddhist and Hindu celebrations. An abomination and a disgrace before God!!

But then again, most of the Catholics of India are not really Catholics anymore anyway!! They've inculturized and "Vatican Two'd themselves to death....literally.

  3. Modernists, and conservatives as well, can speak from both sides of their mouths. It's no good preaching a bit of sound doctrine, when in the next breath, some novelty is proclaimed.

  4. Mr Ortiz ....A commendable truth from the pope that also deserves to be broadcast aloud by him to the UN, mohamatans, buddhists, jews, EU leaders and others when he meets with them.

If he did this I would be among the first to laud him to the very Heavens.

  5. "Asia's Catholics are called to be a sign and promise of that unity and communion -- communion with God and among men" So Pope Benedict orders the underground Catholic Church in China to join the Communist Patriotic Churh. now thats what I call communion!!!
