Glorious! Would that it were sung in every parish the world over!

May the Lord make it so.

Either five or six Anglican bishops will be admitted to the Catholic Church within a few hours, 1 January, 2011. Three nuns from the Anglican Shrine of Walsingham are to join them.

This news is now spreading. They are to be admitted at 12.30 p.m. at Westminster Cathedral in London.

Some reports include the name of Bishop Robert Mercer, the celibate retired Bishop of the Traditional Anglican Communion in England.

The others are entering with their wives. They are the three FiF bishops, Andrew Burnham of Ebbsfleet, Keith Newton of Richborough, and John Broadhurst of Fulham; plus Edwin Barnes, Ass't. Bishop of Winchester; plus David Silk, Ass't Bishop of Exeter.

This will start of the year with a bang! Their ordinations to the diaconate and priesthood will follow. I imagine that, in Bishop Mercer's case, there might also be a consecration to the episcopate.

At least one ordinariate for Engalnd and Wales is expected this month as well.
