Events: TLM at Franciscan Monastery in Washington, D.C.

"On Tuesday, November 8 at 12 p.m., at the Purgatory Chapel in the catacombs of the Franciscan Monastery in Washington, D.C., a Traditional Latin Mass will be offered for the Feast of Blessed John Duns Scotus, defender of the Immaculate Conception.

"This Mass is a unique opportunity, as veneration of Duns is generally limited to the Archdiocese of Cologne, or among Franciscans. The common will be Os justi, or Mass of a confessor who is not a bishop.

"Please arrive early if you are unfamiliar with the main church and how to get down to the catacombs, and please use the small side door near the reception area for tours of the Monastery. Enter the Monastery on the right hand side of the church where the gift shop is located (the usual way of entering the main church). Once inside -- i.e., in the hallway just before the gift shop -- follow the hallway around to the left (you can only go to the left) and you will quickly come to an area with padded benches. The "back" entrance to the catacombs is just to the left of the benches (also immediately to the left of the beautiful statue of the 4th station of the cross).

"This Mass is not an initiative of the Franciscan Monastery but by the initiative of Catholic University students in the Brookland area with the generous cooperation of the other parties. The celebrant is not stationed at the Franciscan Monastery nor has any obligation of apostolate to us.

"Please remember to pray for the celebrant and for those at the Monastery who help us."
