Florida parish with TLM named minor basilica

Congratulations to parishioners of Immaculate Conception church in Jacksonville, Florida, whose parish with the traditional Latin Mass offered every Sunday at 8 a.m. has been named a minor basilica.

From the local newspaper:

Jacksonville's Immaculate Conception named a Minor Basilica
The oldest Catholic church in Jacksonville, and one of downtown’s most historic structures, now has a new designation coming straight from Pope Francis in Rome. Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, begun in 1853, has been named a Minor Basilica due to its unique historical, artistic and religious importance to its community. It becomes one of 77 Catholic churches in the United States and six in Florida to be honored with the designation.

Beautiful Minor Basilica certainly worthy of God and His TLM.

How come they have a "Vigil Mass" for Sunday at 12:10 P.M. on Saturday?

Great blessings for Jacksonville! Our Mission San Juan Capistrano in Orange County is also a minor basilica and also offers the Tridentine Mass regularly. :-)

When you are coming out of high sung TLM from a Church like this one, it feels like you are climbing down from heaven on Jacob’s ladder of angels.
