Update on the Summorum Pontificum Pilgrimage to Rome

See earlier press release on Rorate.

Rome, March 17, 2014 - Populus Summorum Pontificum, an international initiative to unite Catholics in gratitude of Pope Benedict’s 2007 decree on the Extraordinary Form of the Roman Rite and the Church’s desire for all to come to know its riches, announces its third Rome pilgrimage 'ad Petri Sedem' (to the Chair of Peter) from October 23-26, 2014.  All who love the Traditional Latin Mass, the Mass of all Ages, and all who have yet to discover its utmost reverence, holy silence, eternal youth and sublime mystery, are welcome!

The pilgrimage highlight will be a Pontifical High Mass at the altar of the Chair of Peter, celebrated by Cardinal Raymond Burke, Prefect of the Supreme Tribunal of the Apostolic Signatura, who will preach in both English and Italian.  The closing day of the pilgrimage will take place in Norcia, the birthplace of St. Benedict, where the pilgrims will be welcomed by Dom Cassian Folsom and his monks who have, since 2000, followed the ‘Sancta Regula’.

For this occasion, a special tour to Rome and Norcia, Italy (departing from NY) from October 20-28, 2014, has been organized, with the participation of Fr. Tim Davison, pastor of Sts. Peter and Paul in Tulsa, OK.

Finally, Father Claude Barthe, the pilgrimage chaplain, has announced St. Philip Neri, the 'third apostle of Rome' after St. Peter and St. Paul, as the patron saint of the pilgrimage! And a special English-language website has been launched.
