XIII Books, our new imprint dedicated to the social doctrine of the Church, is proud to release a new edition of Father Joseph Husslein’s masterful book, The Reign of Christ, a magnificent exegesis of Pope Pius XI’s encyclical “On the Feast of Christ the King” (Quas Primas) perfectly timed to celebrate its centennial in 2025.
The 1925 encyclical Quas Primas proclaimed the principle of Christ’s Kingship following the rise of secularist forces aimed at uncrowning God as the true source of authority over temporal powers. Jesus Christ, contends Pius XI, is indeed the Great Conqueror of peoples’ hearts, minds, and wills, but also the Supreme Ruler over the nations of the earth. It is the duty of all, therefore, to proclaim His Kingdom publicly.
