Sciacca moved to Signatura

One of the noblest members of the Roman Curia, Bishop Giuseppe Sciacca, was named today by Pope Francis Adjunct Secretary of the Supreme Tribunal of the Apostolic Signatura, headed by Cardinal Burke.

Sciacca was the Secretary of the Governatorate of Vatican City State, headed by a papal favorite, Cardinal Bertello.

I take it this is a good thing?

"I take it this is a good thing?"

I don't know what his job was before, but "Adjunct Secretary" doesn't sound like a step up from many posts.

Given that he has worked for the Roman Rota before - as Prelate Auditor - and done marriage tribunal work before as a diocesan priest, it was probably just a pragmatic decision. I wouldn't read too much into. Unless there is some incredibly inside baseball going on - which I see no evidence of. Still, nice to see a lover of the EF being used in the Vatican!

Titus states that appointment as Adjunct Secretary "doesn't sound like a step up..." It is in this case. The Signatura is a more important dicastery.

He used to be the #2 man in the office that sees to it that the lights and the phones and the toilets work at the Vatican and that pretty new stamps get made every year. Now he is sharing the responsibility of being the second highest official in the highest court of the Holy Roman Church. I'd say that's a step up no matter what it is called.

By the pic showing Bishop Guiseppe Sciacca wearing noble vestments of the Holy Roman Catholic Church, I take this to perhaps be good news. Could Bishop Francis be now hearing the cries of the poor and making a move to feed the spirituality of us Traditionalists? It is my hope that the Pope brings together all the Papal Powers granted him by the Holy Ghost to bring the faithful out of the land of the post Vatican ll dark night, caused by modernism.

Angelo,

"Bishop Francis" doesn't believe in "all the Papal powers"! THAT is the problem, sir!

Thank you mic for the link. As we say in the vernacular, lei è un buon uovo. You are a good egg.
