The CWN headline is loud and clear: No compromise with Vatican, SSPX leader says.
But that is not true. This blog was the very first English-language source to link, on February 3, to the Sermon of February 2 of the Superior-General of the Priestly Fraternity of Saint Pius X -- and it is certainly true that the sermon had some interesting words (and will be further examined here), and it was harsher than many expected. But the fact is that not even the CWN article mentions the expression "No Compromise with Vatican" as something truly said by the Superior-General, because it was not said, nor anything was said which could be summed as simply "no compromise with Vatican"-- so the "SSPX leader says" in the headline is grossly incorrect.
Precision is absolutely necessary now, even in headlines. Otherwise, it is better to remain silent.
