While the mob turns out in droves to see another celeb Pope, Sandro Magister points out the reality of nu-Church in Brazil: 30% of the faithful have left the Church to become members of various protestant sects.

This is the same all over Africa too.

When Vatican II types tell you how hugely the Church has grown in the Third World, don't believe them. The nominal Catholic population of the world is constant at around 17%, so, while the modern marketing methodology of nu-Church draws in the crowds to these headline events, the reality on the ground is not a growth in market share but a complete open wound leaking souls to sects and other religions. In Africa the numbers of apostates are exactly the same, from Nigeria in the west to Kenya in the east.

When will the Church return to soundness of doctrine and soundness of mind?

Let us continue to pray for Holy Mother Church and her return to the sound doctrine and HER sacredness and reverence that GOD ALONE deserves.
Let us cling to the TRUTH and never abandon Holy Mother Church no matter how snall she may get...I believe there will be only a REMNANT ...the faithful who uphold her TRUE teachings and turn away from the lies of Modernism .

I wonder how many of the Protestant leaders in Brazil have been vocal in their opposition to the new abortion bill that is likely to become law after WYD--as opposed to the silent Brazilian "Catholic" bishops.

I also wonder if Pope Francis will have anything to say on the matter, and whether he'll address the bishops' silence.

But then maybe, by now, the bishops have actually said something to oppose the bill and we simply haven't heard of it.

We hope and pray the Pope is giving the real IESVS CHRISTVS and not the generic, after-market Jesus.

Is there something wrong with what the pope said here? If so, someone please explain it.

It is truly beautiful, Boniface.

BONIFACE, What the Pope said sounds great. But! Which "Jesus Christ!" is he proclaiming? I ask, as he did say before, "Jesus does not impose on us, he is humble". I found that strange and I wonder if he will make other likewise statements like that.
