His Own University is Now Against Him: Andrea Grillo, Francis' Liturgist and the Father of Traditionis Custodes, Hates the Eucharist and Must Have His Imprint Erased

Andrea Grillo: has any man done more to rekindle the liturgical wars?

The detestable Italian professor was introduced by some malevolent Vatican spirit to Francis and created the document that would later be signed by the late pope as "Traditionis custodes", whose aim is explicitly to destroy the Traditional Latin Mass in the long term.

But it seems Grillo has at last bitten more than he can chew (or at least at last because it happened during this new pontificate). In an article from early June, the Father of Traditionis Custodes, lambasted Carlo Acutis, the young man beatified by Francis and to be canonized by Leo XIV in October.

Now, one can criticize (as many Traditional Catholics do) the rush to canonization -- not only of Acutis, but of so many figures since the reforms of the beatification and canonization procedures by John Paul II. But it is grotesque to criticize Acutis himself, a young man who appeared to really love the Blessed Sacrament and who died young due to grave illness. And yet -- it was precisely Acutis' most endearing characteristic, his enduring love for the Blessed Sacrament, in the most traditional manner, that Grillo ridiculed in his article, entitled "Young Carlo Acutis and Eucharistic Miseducation." Basically, Grillo's problem is that he hates the Traditional understanding of the Blessed Sacrament and displays a hardly hidden hatred for the dogma of Transubstantiation. In prior centuries, a man like him would have been excommunicated -- under Francis, he wrote the document on the Traditional rites of the Latin Church!

The reaction to Grillo under the New Administration was so stunned that today even his university, the Anselmianum (Pontifical Athenaeum of Saint Anselm), where he had reigned supreme for the past decade, published a note distancing themselves from the private writings of their professors:

June 23, 2025. The Pontifical Athenaeum of Saint Anselm resolutely distances itself from what is individually expressed by professors who, in their personal capacity and under their sole and full responsibility, publish on their sites or blogs, theses, opinions or personal positions.

They, in fact, do not represent what is taught in the various faculties of our Athenaeum, which totally accepts and transmits, in full trust and obedience of faith - from the perspective of a healthy dialectic on which true theological research is based - the teaching of the Church and the Roman Pontiff.

Now, this is good, but at the same time it is ridiculously COWARDLY for the Anselmianum. They do not even mention Grillo by name! If one of their PROFESSORS is espousing open public contempt for Catholic dogma and essential devotion, he should be investigated and fired. They can't just "distance" themselves from heresy advocated in public by their own faculty. Either Grillo is fired, or the ridiculing of the Eucharist and the perfectly orthodox eucharistic devotion of a future saint are fully owned by the Anselmianum. They can't run away from it when he remains their professor, and their most influential professor at that.

Hopefully, the wide knowledge of the evilness of the ideas of Andrea Grillo will make the new Pope reconsider the illegitimate and anti-eucharistic Traditionis custodes. One and the same spirit are behind hatred for the Traditional Latin Mass and hatred for the Blessed Sacrament. One and the same evil spirit.
