Back in November 2023, I announced a wonderful new resource from Os Justi Press: a booklet, Sanctissimum Rosarium in Cantu, that sets the Latin prayers of the Rosary to Gregorian chant psalm tones, in order to make the chanting of it very easy to do.
The reception was very positive. Many found it ideal for long hikes or pilgrimages, a rosary rally, or even that long drive to the Latin Mass on Sundays, where the additional time involved in singing the prayers would not feel out of place, as it might in a standard group or individual recitation.
However, certain readers suggested a larger selection of chants. We listened to the "wish lists," and got to work! The newly-released second edition—a conveniently-sized 5" x 7" book with a new cover—has more than twice the content, including:
• 2 settings of the Apostles' Creed
• Latin announcements for the 15 traditional mysteries
• Psalm-tones for the prayers in all 8 modes plus the Tonus peregrinus and Tonus in directum
• Four settings of the Salve Regina (simple, solemn, monastic, and Dominican)
• Gregorian antiphons for each of the 15 mysteries, as an alternative way to announce them and to establish the psalm tone to be used, for variety's sake
• The Hymn from the Divine Office on the Feast of the Most Holy Rosary
• The Litany of Loreto in chant
• Various additional tones for the Pater Noster, the Hail Mary, and the Gloria Patri (include the "Chartres Ave Maria")
• The Fatima prayer in three different Latin versions, set to all 8 psalm tones (thus completing what is necessary for a COMPLETELY SUNG Rosary!)
Alongside the paperback, a hardcover edition is also available for those who prefer that format. To peak inside or to purchase your copies (including bulk discounts on the paperback), visit the product page at Os Justi Press.
One advantage of ordering from Os Justi (as opposed to Amazon, where the book is also available) is that bulk discounts are available: 10% off for 11-19 copies, 20% off for 20+ copies.
